Summer Drama Camps

SRE and Heritage Village invites local youth to experience the wonderful world of theatre this summer!
Our Summer Camp Act 1: A Journey Into the Art of Performance is a two-week program for ages 11-17.

Act 1 will run on weekdays from July 15 to July 26, 2024, between 8 AM-4 PM at the Heritage Village Barn and is led by professional theatre artist Devon Sereda Goldie (she/her).

What to expect at Drama Camp Act 1:
A Journey Into the Art of Performance:

  • Creating a Brave Space where students are supported to take risks

  • Building students’ confidence in their unique ability

  • Learn theatre techniques, best practices and ensemble building

  • Rehearse a performance to be shared at the end of the camp

Our Summer Camp Act 2: A Playful Exploration of Theatrical Wonders is a two-week program for ages 6-10.

Act 2 will run on weekdays from August 5 to August 16, 2024, between 8 AM-4 PM at the Heritage Village Barn and is led by professional theatre artist Devon Sereda Goldie (she/her), Девон Середа Ґолдій (вона/її).

What to expect at Drama Camp Act 2:
A Playful Exploration of Theatrical Wonders:

  • Creating a Brave Space where students are supported to take risks

  • Building students’ confidence in their unique ability

  • Learn theatre techniques, best practices and ensemble building

  • Rehearse a performance to be shared at the end of the camp


Swamp Rat Experience is a registered non-profit that aspire to make theatre accessible and eliminate barriers for everyone to participate in the performing arts. With this in mind, we are using a sliding scale tier fee schedule based on an honour system (you will never be asked to provide proof of income). Choose the one that best describes your circumstances, and please note that this information is kept strictly confidential.

  • TIER 1 (annual income $50,000 and over): $250

  • TIER 2 (annual income $35,001-$50,000): $220

  • TIER 3 (annual income $20,001-$35,000): $190

  • TIER 4 (annual income less than $20,000): $160

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Devon Sereda Goldie (she/her) is a professional theatre artist and theatre instructor who has recently made Fort McMurray her home! She holds an M.A. and B.F.A. in Theatre and specializes in devised theatre, applied theatre, community-based theatre, Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA), Theatre-in-Education (TIE), directing, playwriting, acting, and more! Devon is a proud Ukrainian Canadian and a subject expert in Ukrainian theatre and culture - she even speaks Ukrainian!

Locally, you may have seen Devon teaching Junior Players at Theatre; Just Because and performing as the narrator in A Winter's Tale with Theatre; Just Because at the Suncor and Syncrude Family Holiday Parties! She will also be performing in Les Liaisons Dangereuses for Keyano Theatre Company in April/May 2024. Devon is passionate about creating engaging art experiences for all ages and is absolutely delighted to share her passion and talents with the wider Wood Buffalo arts community!
